<p>Mandan, N.D., June 28, 2011 – Cedar Rapids, Iowa-based Quintrex Data Systems Corp. (Quintrex), a leading provider of billing and information software solutions to the independent telecommunications industry, has been acquired by National Information Solutions Cooperative (NISC). </p>
<p>Quintrex provides its integrated management solutions to more than 60 independent telecom companies in 20 states and Canada. NISC provides software and hardware solutions to more than 550 independent telecommunications companies and utilities in 47 states, American Samoa and Canada. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. </p>
<p>According to Leland J. Smithson, president, owner and co-founder of Quintrex, the acquisition of his organization transfers ownership to a well-respected organization that shares his commitment to the industry. “At this stage of my life, it’s time for me to begin a transition of Quintrex to assure its customers and employees have a solid, innovative and long-term software solution in a changing and competitive marketplace,” he said. </p>
<p>Smithson said that the blending of these two strong organizations will strengthen their position in the marketplace and will energize the enhancement of current products and the development of new products. “Quintrex has developed a strong product offering, as has NISC,” said Smithson. “Our customers will benefit greatly from the combined talents, experience and vision each organization brings to the table, as we move into the future together.” </p>
<p>With its purchase of Quintrex, NISC will increase its presence in the communications industry, giving it a wider base from which to address critical technology issues facing rural telecom companies. “NISC is pleased to have finalized this transaction, which brings together two organizations with similar values and a commitment to customer service. The company found several applications within the Quintrex software that will provide this additional automation. “Using the Quintrex Workforce Management System, we hope to eliminate the manual steps that have been slowing us down,” Charlie Cano, engineering manager, explained. “We’ll see more efficient scheduling and be able to free up resources to do better things within the company.” In addition, the integration within the Quintrex Financial modules produces a seamless flow of information between the individual financial applications, as well as with the Billing and Point of Sale programs reducing manual data entry errors.</p>

There are many benefits but one of the biggest, and probably the reason I pursued this to start with, was for my field personnel. They carry laptops. We don’t have wireless yet, but currently they plug their computers in at the office and can download the maps at any point in time. With the integration, they have real-time information. We have also cut down search times in the mapping system, for what’s activated, the line circuit, cable pairs. We plan on going wireless so that our techs in the field can do updates anytime.”</p>
<p>“We have found having this interface is crucial for our field personnel. They don’t want to have to go into the billing system to get customer information. They are more comfortable working with geographical based software. Now, they can get to customer information with the touch of a button. ”</p>
<p>“Our dispatchers use it too; they use Quintrex 75% of the time. When they need a quick look to see what’s at a specific service location, they can pop that information up. Now, they can go to either place and get it quickly. They love it!”</p>
<p>“We’ve been rebuilding facilities and moving customers. Before, we had maintain it all manually in both systems. I’ve seen a 100% return on efficiencies by not having to update information in two places.”</p>
<p>“I can also create service locations in the Quintrex system and it automatically creates a record in the M4 system. This way, we also know the address is correct because all service locations are validated against the MSAG. In the past, we could have easily keyed in the wrong address or put it in a different format, now it will match 100%. Since we have to maintain the MSAG on the Quintrex side, it’s great to see it in both locations and know it is correct.”</p>
<p>“For me, it’s so much more efficient. It has improved my engineering by not having to do the cross referencing I’ve had to do in the past. It is a huge benefit for me.”</p>
<p>“As outside plant, it’s very critical for our mapping to be very user friendly – the more we can contain in the mapping system, the better. The biggest benefit is seeing the customer information on a land-based map.”</p>
<p>“When I generate cables and new service areas, it generates the pairs for the cables in the Quintrex system. It’s already there when you go into the plant system. It’s a huge time saver! I’ve been very pleased with the interface.”</p>

<p>“Leland [Smithson, Quintrex president,] and I sat down and went over all of the problems we were facing and why we needed this information. From there, as you can see now, most every issue has been addressed with the Quintrex software. It’s amazing and much, much more. There were things that we didn’t even consider at that particular time that now has been developed. The filter process has been unbelievable, it’s so simple to use. I think that’s one of the biggest advantages of the Quintrex system is that it’s easy to use.”</p>
<p>“By using the filter system I can sit here and I can develop and target customers and select customers just by using the filters without having to go through a big rigmarole and write a query and do all this stuff, it’s just a matter of click, click, click. That’s so beneficial for me because I don’t have time to go through a big process.”</p>
<p>“This system allowed us to build the bundles and try to be more effective. I’d have to say that things have been very, very successful. Our goal was to have 2,000 bundles by the end of the year and we had 2,033 in May. When we finished our campaign in September 2006, we had sold 3,266 bundles, 163% of our goal. So we are very pleased with the bundles.”</p>
<p>“The Marketing Solution enables you to do your job more effectively. It simplifies the whole process I don’t think there is any company, no matter what size, that couldn’t benefit from it. The smaller companies it’s of course a bigger advantage to them because they’re like me and there’s just me and I’m only one person and I don’t have a whole staff working on marketing.”</p>
<p>“Before we had the Marketing Solution, we weren’t able to target our marketing campaigns. We just had to shoot it out and hope it hit the right people. With the Quintrex software, we are able to target customers and develop marketing pieces specific for that group. It has saved us so much time and money. We have about 20,000 customers. [Prior to QDS], we would create a mass campaign for all of our customers. After we ran the campaign, we found that less than ½ were qualified, 9,794 exactly! We were able to then take the money we would have spent for the larger, mass marketing campaign and create targeted direct mail pieces. We cut costs and marketed to only those who were qualified for the offer.”</p>
<p>“We then used the Reason Code program to learn what marketing pieces worked best. When customers would call in to order a bundle, the CSR would ask them how they found out about the promotion, was it a billboard, a direct mail piece, etc. It told me what marketing strategy was most effective. If the majority of customers were getting the information from my direct mail piece and not my newspaper advertisement, I can shift monies during the campaign to the most effective marketing medium.”</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>CEDAR RAPIDS, IA &#8211; Quintrex Data Systems Corp. and CADTEL Systems, Inc. announce the expansion of their business relationship to include advanced integration options between the Quintrex Billing/OSS system and CADTEL&#8217;s SpatialBASE and AssureNRM solutions. This enhanced partnership offers communications companies three new opportunities for interaction between the CADTEL &amp; Quintrex applications, complementing the established One-way Plant Records Interface. These new options include: a Bi-directional Plant Records Interface, a CPR &amp; Work Order System Interface and a Workforce Management System Interface.</p>
<h2>Plant Records Inferface</h2>
<p>Making use of the Bi-directional Plant Records Interface, communications companies can access account information from the Quintrex system for customers assigned to any cable, fiber, network component or structure within their inside or outside plant. By synchronizing customer and plant records, companies can look up customer information from their maps, perform instant new service qualifications and immediately assign facilities as they become available.</p>
<h2>CPR &amp; Work Order Interface</h2>
<p>By coordinating the information entered into the Quintrex Work Order System with the actual materials used during construction projects; companies can ensure CPR record accuracy. Assisting with USAC audits, companies can also identify specific property units on the map, and then quickly locate the actual cost of that specific property unit within the Quintrex CPR system.</p>
<h2>Workforce Management System Interface</h2>
<p>The interface with the Quintrex Workforce Management System simplifies schedule updates by immediately displaying updated task information on the geographic-based maps. Taking advantage of a single user interface, task locations are identified within CADTEL&#8217;s system, allowing maintenance tasks to easily be scheduled when a technician is nearby.</p>
